PDP Accuses Tinubu Administration of Secretly Paying N5.4 Trillion in Fuel Subsidy

PDP Demands Transparency and Public Inquiry into Alleged Fuel Subsidy Payments Amid Economic Hardship

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of secretly paying N5.4 trillion as fuel subsidy for 2024, despite public claims of subsidy removal. PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, revealed this in a statement, criticizing the administration for misleading Nigerians while enforcing high fuel prices.
Ologunagba highlighted the revelation by the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, which contradicts President Tinubu's earlier statements. He condemned the APC for exacerbating the country’s economic woes and demanded a public inquiry to address the alleged discrepancies. According to the PDP, the continuation of fuel subsidy payments into private accounts associated with corrupt APC leaders is aggravating the suffering of Nigerians amid rising poverty and infrastructural decay.

The PDP urged President Tinubu to address the nation and clarify the situation. They also called for a review of the administration’s economic policies and the inclusion of more competent officials to tackle the prevailing corruption. Emphasizing the urgency, the PDP stressed that the president must act swiftly to alleviate the widespread hardship and hunger affecting millions across the country.
